Other Grooming ToolsMost pet owners are already aware of the need to brush pets. They have dander and loose hair and assorted dust and dirt that grooming helps remove. Then there is the oil coating of the hair follicles that grooming stimulates. But not so well known are some special brush appliances that I find are easy to use as well as efficient. The first one is the rubber brush. There are brushes made out of rubber that pull the hair and help remove it from pets. They are easy to use and hold onto the hair to a degree. I dip mine in water and shake it when I use it on a pet. I also wash it with soap between pets to keep from spreading anything contagious from one pet to the next. Rubber brushes are great. They remove more pet hair and stimulate the coat more than a regular brush, in my opinion. They do more in less time and with less work. A second appliance that I have found particlarly useful is the tape covered hair removal tools that you can buy for a dollar at dollar stores. They have a grip and a roll of tape on them and they remove hair from the clothes or the pet. The hair roller can be rolled over the pet, and it will remove some hair, but also it can be used another way. The groomer uses the hair roller in much the same way as when he was rolling it over the pet, but instead of rolling it over the coat, light pressure is applied using a finger to the roller so that it drags over the coat...this catches much more hair. Alternating between dragging the roller over the pets' coat and rolling it removes the loose hair and allows for quick efficient disposal of the hair of the pet instead of having it go every which way into the room where the pet is being groomed.
