How to really help kittens and cats

Kittens are unique in the cat world because of their underdeveloped immune systems. They are a developing creature in many ways.

Mothers' milk helps kittens stay healthy

Mothers' milk helps them by supplying colostrum that helps arm their immune systems to fight off pathogen attacks, to some degree.

Hope in the middle of Life and death

Many kittens die before they get to be very old. Pathogens take a lot of them out. It is a relatively frequent ocurrence for a kitten, to live and possibly die before they see very many sunrises. But there is hope.

Feeding the pregnant mother frequently helps the developing kittens

For one thing, arming the mother carrying kittens helps the developing fetuses a lot. What you feed the mother goes to the kittens inside of her. They all benefit from a good diet, even before they are born.

The mother cat will try to utilize whatever is available to her to feed her developing kittens she is carrying, and helping her nutritionally helps her kittens develop properly.

Keep up the food after the big day

Once the kittens are born, then continuing to feed the mother a diet high in things like kitten milk replacer and kitten chow, with water added to canned cat food also, helps her to feed the developing kittens with enough fortified milk produced by her body to keep them alive and thriving.

The right milk really helps

I have even found that feeding cats milk with lactose removed, like lactaid and others is helpful. I have mixed lactose reduced milk with the cat milk replacer to give them the best of both types, it also extends the life of the cat milk, because it goes fast when feeding several kittens and the mother.

A new weapon to help cats and kittens

Now I have a new weapon in the fight to keep kittens and cats alive, sodium chlorite. Sodium chlorite is sold on the market under several names(I offer both MMS and ox-e-drops for sale). Some vendors provide more support than others. I suggest dealing with vendors that provide support when a person is first starting out with this product.

Many personal testimonies

I have found that this product is very effective in staving off a lot of kitten and cat sicknesses. As an added bonus, it works on other pets and humans.

Easy to administer, a big plus

I give sodium chlorite to pregnant mothers in their water and food and milk. It is meant to be mixed in water and then the water is added to food etc. You, as an owner can avoid choking and other issues with this product.

How sodium chlorite works

Sodium chlorite acts by providing an internal germ and virus killing action that is specific to pathogens only. The immune system utilizes the chlorite ion as well and turns it into hypoclorous acid that make the immune cells very potent. The goal is to provide a cats' body with enough chlorite ions to arm their antibodies and immune system with hypochlorous acid. This gives leukocytes and other cells a boost in their germ killing action, and this increases survival rates of cats and kittens tremendously.

Increased survival of cats and kittens receiving sodium chlorite added to food and water

I have seen way less kitten and rescue deaths by adding this to the food and water of cats. Before it was a guessing game, but now the cat populations that I work with are way more stable with less deaths of kittens and less sickness among adult cats as well.

I let sodium chlorite do the work, no expensive tests or vet visits necessary

Having a strong stable cat or kitten is possible now without lots of tests and vet visits, with ox-e-drops (a brand that I have used this year). Cats and kittens can die from secret pathogens depleting their blood cells, but with sodium chlorite added to their diets, this quickly becomes less of an issue. Cats and kittens can actually have stable lives with this added to their diets. Because of its automatic germ killing ability, pathogens are doomed.

Support for vaccinated and unvaccinated cats

Vaccinations offer some stability for a cats' health, however vaccinations(and especially boosters) offer health risks associated with the ingredients in a vaccine.

The vaccines offer some protection from some pathogens but not all pathogens. Cats can die from other diseases as well as various parasites, and since they cover their problems as well as they can from their owners, they can often be seriously ill before the owner notices that there might be such a serious disease present.

Just add to food and water

Sodium chlorite offers a greater range of protection and health for all pets and is easy to administer. Just add it to water or diluted to canned food or milk, what could be easier?

Variety of treatment options

If a pet happens to catch something that is threatening the health of the pet(upper respiratory disease for example), there are other treatment options, like steam with sodium chlorite in the water available when a pet cannot eat.

My own story

For example, this year was a tragic year for me because of the loss of several of my precious pets due to upper respiratory disease. I hauled some to the vet and some to another one, and I got nothing but hands tossed up into the air with a recommendation to euthanize them, both times from two different vets.

Favorite pets dying, what to do?

I was determined not to give up. I spent hundreds of dollars trying to help them, but every sick cat but one died in my arms. They could not drink water, medicine, or take any food due to throat issues associated with URI(upper respiratory infection). Each one died of heart failure, it was very tragic. They were brave, very trusting and loving, but there was nothing that anyone could do for them at the time. It was very hopeless and tragic to lose my pets like that.

I started searching and finally found something to help

The veterinary establishment was of no help.So I started an internet search day and night. Once I located something that claimed to be helpful for this type of thing, and became accustomed to their use and how they act upon the body of both myself and my cats(ox-e-drops) I started using them and giving them to my cats. I have been able to turn around the sickness of my cat Sammie. He is sitting on my lap right now, very healthy and relaxed, but earlier this year(see my MMS blog) he almost died from the same upper respiratory illness that killed several of my other cats earlier this year. This time the results were different, he lived!

Why is Upper Repiratory Illness so deadly?

When cats get upper respiratory disease, it messes up their sense of smell for a relatively long time, there is not much that a pet owner can do about it with standard antibiotics etc, and Sammie was in that terminal stage. A cat with that kind of disease will not eat or even drink water, it makes them gag. They often have lung congestion and eventually they die(heart failure, yes I held each one earlier this year as they died after taking them to two vets and got no help).

Life or death decision

So I had to take immediate action with Sammie once I figured out what was going on.

Cat can't take anything by mouth so I had to use steam

I used the steam treatment with drops in the water and also administered some orally once he got over the mouth soreness(took several treatments initially before he could take any fluid by mouth) and finatlly he started taking fluids. He started improving right away after he started getting the ox-e-drop steam in his tented cage using a Vicks steamer.

Sore throat can be deadly for cats

My cats do not respond well to anything administered orally, it stresses them out, and me too, kittens and cats have possible choking issues as well with oral medications. It is impossible to give cats anything once the mouth/ throat gets messed up.

Sore throat in a cat? It is risky giving it anything by mouth until the soreness is stopped

If the particular medication cannot be given in some tuna, or similar beloved food then I always slowly inject liquified medications into the mouth using a clean syringe( a material syringe, without a needle--it has a special tip that regular syringes don't have) filled with the medication into the cheek area,a little at a time. It is squirted slowly either through the closed teeth or into the cheek pouch. I wouldn't recommend giving a cat with URI any sort of oral medication until the throat soreness is relieved, they can have a heart attack and die right there on the spot from the stress of dealing with the sore throat and gagging from the liquid being given.

Yet with sodium chlorite they can be given daily doses easily in the water and food, with way less stress, and the results are amazing.
