- Additives I Use in pet food
I suggest a few additives that I use in my homemade pet food to enrich it. - This list includes the following:
- Oils: krill oil, flaxseed oil, mineral oil, corn oil, olive oil, fish oil, vitamin E
- Supplements: I crush (tablet crusher) Brewers Yeast(the one for pets that comes in tablets at the pet store do not use baking yeast, it can kill a pet), B complex tablets(human use 1/2 or 1/4 tablet for smaller portions than 7 cats), Senior formula vitamins(reduce for less pets than 7), Pet spray vitamins with Taurine(follow label directions). I might add that I do not feed the pets these vitamin supplements every day, usually several times a week. The coral and some of the other de-acidifying supplements I feed every meal.
- Diatomaceous earth(the food grade not garden or pool variety, will really hurt a pet if its not the food grade-look it up online and order it online). This diatomaceous will kill tapeworms and roundworms over time. It also controls outside flies that lay eggs in the cat feces...kills the larvae over time and reduces the fly population.
- I also give my pets Benefiber when I run out of rice, gives them bulk and cannot be seen or tasted.
